Holiday Cottage in Dumfries.
Comfortably furnished and set next to owners Baronial Lodge
in lovely one acre garden. Superb rural base for walks, river
(60 metres). All linen, electric, plus welcome pack of bread,
butter, eggs, milk free.
The accommodation has a light airy feel with cream walls and
curtains, solid tiled floors and rugs throughout. The heating
and water is all electric and the kitchen well equipped with
fridge, washer/dryer, microwave, electric cooker (use of
freezer on request) fire extinguisher and fire blanket and the
usual cooking implements but if there should be anything you
need we are on-hand if we can help.
The living/dining area has a two seater sofa, coffee table, TV,
video, hi-fi/radio, dining table and two chairs. There are a
selection of books and local tourist information leaflets. The
bathroom has a toilet, sink, shower and shaver point. Hand
and bath towels are provided but please do not use them for
the beach. The bedroom has a double bed with duvet, pillows
and linen is provided. All heating/hot water, bed linen, towels
and tea towels and the welcome pack are inclusive in the
price.
Outside of the cottage you are provided with a table, chairs
and washing line. Please feel free to wander and enjoy the
garden, but please respect the plants! Also we do have a dog
so please take care with closing the gates. We have just
planted a scented rose garden, with 16 climbers and 32
English roses. This encircles a heritage vegetable garden,
where you may purchase produce that is available. We have a
collection of 160 different Hostas, some of which are for sale.
There are many things to see and do in the area which is a
haven for wildlife. You can walk from the cottage to
Newtonairds forest with it's loch and fishing is a stones throw.
Dumfries is 6.8 miles and is the county town of Dumfries and
Galloway with several museums connected with Robert Burns.
The nearest village, Dunscore (3.6 miles) has a Post Office
and general store, a butcher, Public House and doctors
surgery.
